We are always delighted to have plaintiffs attorneys join our organization. The criteria for membership is simply that with regard to whatever portion of your law practice is devoted to employment law cases, that 51% or more of that portion is plaintiff's work.

Join NELA-NJ

We are offering lawyers two options; both of which will give you all of the benefits of membership to NELA-NJ.

For a fee of $200 per year, your payment will cover dues as well as all charges for 5 dinner meetings [$20.] and the holiday party [$35.].

Annual membership in NELA-NJ is $100 per year. You can now pay your dues with PayPal

You then have the option to pay $25 for each dinner meeting you attend.

  1. Membership entitles you to a discount on National Membership.
  2. Listing in our members online directory.
  3. Access to valuable Members resources and practitioner's materials at the NELA-NJ emprights site at Yahoo NELA-NJemprights and the NELA-NJ.ORG website and participation in our interactive mailing list.

To join, click here to print out our Application for Membership and forward with your check to the address indicated on the Application.

Your annual dues for NELA-NJ are now payable for the September 1, 2008 – August 31, 2009 membership year. Your dues entitle you to access the NELA-NJ List-Serve and the Members-Only Section of the NELA-NJ website, and they provide your firm with an internet presence visible to the public, through our website. Your dues also allow you o participate on a list of secondary practice areas, new this year, to facilitate referrals between our members for non-employment law cases. There are two options for dues:

• Option A: $200: covers dues, plus all charges for 5 dinner meetings and the Holiday Party.

• Option B: $100 covers dues, and you “pay as you go” for dinner meetings and Holiday party ($25 per dinner meeting; $35 for the Holiday Party; which must be paid at the time of attendance)

The dinner meetings provide the opportunity not only to socialize, but also to share ideas on cases, brainstorm and discuss employment law topics in a group: invaluable to attorneys such as us who typically have solo or small practices. We also offer NY and PA CLE credit for some meetings – certainly some of the least expensive CLE credits available!

Our programming committee is already hard at work on programs for this coming year. Those of you who have attended dinner meetings know the value of these sessions, but if you have not been taking advantage of these opportunities, please consider doing so for ’08-’09. If you expect you will attend at least 4 out of the 6 functions, consider “Option A” which offers up to $60 in savings over the pay-as-you-go Option B. Indicate your option on the Application for Membership, attached.

Our by-laws provide that to qualify for membership, an attorney must engage in an employment law practice, 51% of which involves representation of plaintiffs. Therefore, please complete and sign the enclosed Membership Application, and return it with your dues check by September 1, 2008 (payable to NELA-NJ), to me at the below address. Please note that if your membership is not paid in full by September 10, 2008, your NELA-NJ list-serve privileges may be suspended with notice.

Very truly yours,

Lisa M. Curry, Treasurer

PS: We are compiling a list of which NELA-NJ members practice law in other areas besides employment law. Hopefully, this will facilitate making and receiving referrals among members. Please click here to fill out the form listing your secondary practice areas. This list will be provided to NELA-NJ members only, in hard copy and online,
